Jerry McCormick
Jerry McCormick is a 30-year-veteran in journalism. Most of his career was spent as a copy editor at some of the top newspapers in the country. In 2009, he transitioned over to broadcast journalism where in just five short years he won his first Emmy Award. He now teaches journalism to college students and is openly correcting people’s grammar. To him, AP Style isn’t just a book, it’s a way of life.
Jason Zuidema

Jason Zuidema was a Journalist in the U.S. Navy for 5 years (2004-2009). He learned his grammar nazi ways at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Fort Meade, Maryland, during Navy A-School, where perfection wasn’t an option. After 6 months of print and broadcast journalism school, he was sent to Sasebo, Japan, where he contributed to the Sasebo Nightly News, a daily news program about all things base-related. From there, he was stationed in San Diego, at the Fleet Public Affairs Center Pacific. Assigned to USS Tarawa, he augmented ships crew when they went out to sea. There he managed a 10-minute shipboard newscast called Tarawa Nightly News (TNN). Upon leaving the Navy, Jason landed a job at Fox 5 San Diego as a Photojournalist. Two Emmy Awards and eight years later he quit to go back to school and is now making short films, doing a little background work with Central Casting in LA, and freelancing. He has always seen Jerry’s #whycopyeditorsareneeded posts on facebook…and decided he needs to archive them onto a website for all to see and learn! Check out Jason’s work here: www.jz.media
